Featured my iMac BTO just updated to 12GB RAM. Differences? Not much. Maybe because is a BTO iMac with SSD and when the Lion swap (not swim ) the SSD is fast almsot like the RAM. And I can't feel a "real" difference, but is cool have a lot RAM and I want to be cool
SSD is the way! Silent, fast, cold, reliable, etc.. But (imo) it needs to be alone in the iMac, not with a (noisy, hot, mechanical etc..) HD near it. But with an external HD (at the moment FW800, I hope to see Thunderbolt HD on the market as soon as possibile) that you can turn ON-OFF when you need it. I.E. to have less noisy for recording my EyeTV programs that normally I keep 1-2 days (after I watch and delete them) I'm using a USB SOLID STATE PenDrive 32GB ([link]) for the same reasons
and is possible have your gray icon next whit the trash?
